Canyon County Lakes ll
Water bodies in Canyon County include the Snake River, Boise River, Lake Lowell, and many small ponds. In 2007, four ponds were chosen for initial treatement: Red Top pond, Rotary pond, Duff pond, and the Caldwell ponds. These ponds are all former gravel pits with public access, and are stocked by Idaho Department of Fish and Game. Although they are self-contained, they are potential sources for spreading the invasive weed Eurasian Watermilfoil via boats, fishing equipment, and waterfowl.
Full results of the treatement in 2007 will not be apparant until spring/summer of 2008. Canyon County Weed and Gopher Control continues to monitor for Eurasian Watermilfoil and other invasive species.
