Documentation - Phytosanitary Certificates
Phytosanitary certification is required by importing countries for plant products such as fresh produce, seed, nursery stock, hay, and other plant products that could introduce regulated pests or diseases. Phytosanitary certification is not required for processed products. ISDA conducts field inspections for export certification and issues phytosanitary certificates.
In addition to State Phytosanitary Certificates, ISDA issues Federal Phytosanitary Certificates in the State of Idaho under a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) with the Plant Protection and Quarantine (PPQ) section of USDA's Animal and Plant Health Inspection Service (APHIS.
To obtain a Federal Phytosanitary Certificate (phyto), each shipment must be inspected and an application must be submitted. You may need field inspection, treatment, or other things to be able to meet the entry requirements of the foreign country.
